Classic! File Manager Gets Nostalgic Version in Windows 11

Classic! File Manager Gets Nostalgic Version in Windows 11

The Windows file manager, originally released in 1990 on Windows 3.0, has gained a new version for Windows 10 and Windows 11. With the source code released in 2018, the file manager update has been redone by the staff team led by Craig Wittenberg, architect of Microsoft Azure.

The new Windows file manager can be downloaded from GitHub or the Microsoft Store. By downloading and installing the program, the user will "go back" to the 90s again to manage their files.

    How the file manager works

When using the Windows file manager, the user will notice that almost all its features are done through an icon at the top of the window or through right mouse clicks on top of a folder. Through its "tree" format of folders, it is possible to easily locate the path traveled or find a specific folder visually (without using a search box).

    Launch and availability

The new version of the file manager is now available on the Microsoft Store and on GitHub. It is believed that with Windows 2's Sun Valley 11 update, there may be further improvements to Windows Explorer, which has everything the file manager doesn't do so well and could deliver something more to the public in 2022. The addition of viewing multiple windows within an explorer window would be much more useful than we have now.
